The School of Design at Harvard (Harvard GSD) has decided to award the Prize Wheelwright architect Jose Ahedo for its proposal Domesticated Grounds: Design and Domesticity Within Animal Farming Systems, which focuses on the myriad social and environmental challenges related to breeding I won.
The jury selected the proposal of the Barcelona architect among seven finalists and 200 s candidate for the award for its "integrated into a wide range of subjects approach and its clarity to identify the ptotencial of architecture and design to shape pinup more sustainable production for a mega global industry. "
By winning the Prize Wheelwright, Ahedo also receives a fund of US $ 100,000, which will use over the next two years to investigate Taranaki (New Zealand), the premium milk exporter in the world; Ikhbulag valleys and Orkhon (Mongolia), where half of the population depends on livestock production; Schleswig-Holstein (Germany), with walk in one of the longest histories on livestock and which have prevailed medium-sized family farms; Hainan (China), an island with hundreds of aquatic farms (farms); and several centers and companies around the world producing agricultural research.
